The day is finally here. It’s both way too early and way too late. I wanted this book out years ago and I know I could spend years on it. But I needed to let it go. I needed to take a deep breath, hit submit, and let the chips fall where they may. That’s not to say I didn’t work as hard as I possibly could on this book. That I didn’t struggle trying to understand what I was trying to say, to edit, to meet my own deadlines. That it wasn’t difficult putting this book as a priority above everything else.

I hope you enjoy Without Benefits. It’s available NOW through a variety of retailers. But here’s a little sneak peak:

Emma blushed as another woman walked out of a dressing room, a red dress draped over her arm. Emma recognized her immediately. “Rachel, what a surprise.”

There was little that could surprise Emma these days. Out of all the dress shops in the entire city and outlying suburbs, she would never have expected Rachel to be here. In fact, Rachel had really been far from her mind these past few weeks. Even with Emma doing drinks with her neighbors on Tuesdays, and rehearsals and Wednesday, their life had gone back to normal.

“Oh, Emma. Hi.”

“What’re you doing here?” Emma asked.

“Connor. He said . . . he said you come here a lot. That you’d be here tonight. And always says how great you look dressed up. So I thought I’d check it out. He’s taking me to dinner on Tuesday to celebrate my promotion.”

Emma knew about the dinner plans, but had assumed they wouldn’t require cocktail attire. It was flattering, that she’d shop here just because she knew Emma did. Still, the night was full of more surprises than she had anticipated.
